Area We Serve

The area covered by ECCP includes much of the administrative areas of Carlisle City Council and Eden District Council (see map). From the Scottish border in north Cumbria, we work down through Hadrian's Wall country, the North Pennines AONB in Cumbria, the Eden Valley and parts of the Solway basin, and as far as Kirkby Stephen, the Howgills and to the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District National Parks' borders in the south.

History of ECCP

ECCP first appeared in 1985 in our current form, from a previous job-creation project based around Alston Moor. With support in the early years from the Countryside Commission (now Agency), our staff numbers grew steadily as a number of new tasks were delegated to ECCP. For example, as the Pennine Way restoration project came to Cumbria in the 1990s, ECCP was the base of operations for the project officer. In recent years we have secured funding from a number of sources, including Lottery, European Union and Landfill tax to continue expanding the services we can offer.
